About the 16:9 Aspect Ratio
The 16:9 ratio (1.778:1) became the international standard for HDTV, Full HD, and most digital video. It replaced the older 4:3 ratio starting in the early 2000s and is now used by virtually all modern screens, from smartphones to 8K displays.
The most common 16:9 resolution is 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p), used by the majority of monitors, TVs, and streaming services. YouTube, Netflix, and most video platforms default to 16:9 content.
